The huge numbers of new phones that were announced by all manufacturers.
Sony Ericsson announced two new 3G phones:
Sony Ericsson K600 - compact candybar, the smallest 3G candybar handset in Europe
Sony Ericsson Z800 - clamshell 3G handset that happens to be the unbranded version of the Sony Ericsson V800, which was exclusive to Vodafone 3G networks
Nokia announced three new phones and some interesting technological developments:
Nokia 6680 - the successor to the Nokia 6630 3G smartphone that has just been released in Australia, the 6680 is Nokias first true video call-capable bar phone, Nokia 6681 with Push to Talk capability and Nokia 6101 -a mid-range clamshell phone.
Motorola announced 10 handsets middle-range GSM and upper class 3G handsets, a PC data card supporting the upcoming HSDPA technology.
Motorola A1010 - Symbian powered smartphone with two megapixel digital camera, RAM 48MB.
Motorola E1060 - bar handset, 1.2 megapixel camera, TransFlash memory card support, Bluetooth, AGPS, 3G W-CDMA and tri-band GSM support.
Motorola E1120 - another bar 3G handset looking exactly like E1000, but with a three megapixel camera and 8x digital zoom.
Motorola SLVR V8 - made in good RAZR V3 traditions
Motorola V560 - an upgrade to the V550
Samsung introduced nine new GSM handsets:
Z130 - 3G bar phone with a unique rotation design which allows you to rotate the main screen 90 degrees
Z500 - 3G clamshell
Z300 - 3G clamshell, similar to the Z500
D720 - Symbian OS Series 60 handset
E340 - tri-band GSM clamshell
E350 -small tri-band GSM slider phone
E720 - clamshell, tri-band GSM/GPRS support, 1.3 megapixel digital camera with flash lamp and video recording, Bluetooth
E730 - identical to the E720
E880 - slider phone, one megapixel camera, Bluetooth with Pictbridge support
i270 - tri-band GSM clamshell running Windows Mobile 2003 SE, 64MB ROM and 32MB RAM, miniSD memory card slot, Bluetooth support and stereo speakers.
X480 - low end dual-band GSM clamshell with UFB colour screen
X640 - low end clamshell phone, tri-band
Panasonic VS3/MX6/SA6 - these three triband GSM clamshells look the same and are based around the same fundamental features: a 1.3 megapixel CMOS camera and 2.2 inch QVGA resolution TFT colour main screen showing 16 million colours.
Panasonic VS7/MX7/SA7 - these phones are similar to the above, but each get a two megapixel CMOS camera with macro focus switch, huge 2.5 inch QVGA resolution 16 million colour TFT main screen, 65,000 colour external screen, miniSD memory card slot and Bluetooth.
Panasonic A210 - similar to the SC3 but doesn’t have the VGA camera or infra-red.
Panasonic SC3 - compact entry-level GSM dual-band
Panasonic X800 - Series 60 smartphone, tri-band GSM, clamshell with colour main and external screens, 1.3 megapixel camera, miniSD card slot and Bluetooth
NEC did not specifically announce any new handsets, but displayed their current and previously announced upcoming range of GSM i-mode, standard GSM and W-CDMA 3G phones.
LG demonstrated previously announced handsets (U8300) as well as special handsets for their home South Korean market.
Sharp showed off their recently released Vodafone-exclusive 902 clamshell (W-CDMA, two megapixel camera, 2x optical zoom and TM200 two megapixel camera equipped GSM clamshell exclusive to T-Mobile.
